Snow, London, Church and Christmas Lights

It’s been a while since we’ve written. Mostly it’s because we’ve been plagued with a nasty tummy bug, and coughs and colds for the past couple of weeks and we’re still not quite recovered. It’s kept us home, feeling sorry for ourselves, but thankfully we didn’t have much on so it wasn’t inconvenient.

I did make it to London for 5 days to attend Module 4 of my studies in person. It was really special to be there, soaking up fascinating information and getting to know some of the other students. It was the first time I’ve travelled and stayed all by myself. I have even more respect for people who do this often. Being alone and far from familiar faces (and not feeling 100%!) is tough.

I got to know the local area well and probably tried out all the nearby restaurants and pubs with the other students over lunch and dinner. On my final night I went for a long walk into central London (a little longer than anticipated as I got lost). Saw the beautiful lights on Regent Street and fancy shop windows.

Christmas in winter is something else. We are enjoying lighting candles each evening (it’s dark at 5pm) and noticing all the beautiful decorations throughout each village. Our entrance is looking lovely, thanks to our neighbor family.

Yesterday we woke up to our first decent dumping of snow. I found some Benjamin shaped (bare) foot prints. He went outside, in the dark, in his summer pjs! Typical! He doesn’t notice the cold 🙂

It was a Church morning so Daniel carefully drove the car down our very steep, not yet cleared of snow, driveway. And it was fine. The snow plough came along soon after. Daniel played the bass in Church as part of the ‘band project’ team. Here’s a little video of them playing a Swiss worship song.

After nearly two weeks off, Noah made it to school today. He came home with this pretty impressive German text he’d written all by himself. It’s amazing how quickly the boys learn!
