The chateau is a castle on lake Geneva (or Lac Leman). It’s in a village called Montreux in the southern and French speaking part of Switzerland. They think the castle dates back to before 1000.
We went to visit it on Saturday. The castle has things that lots of cartoons have, like prisons, dungeons, banquet halls, torture towers, knights and dragons, cannons, armory. They had toilets that were very long drops that went straight into the lake (not in use any more though, phew).
They kept lots of prisoners there over recent years. Because the castle sits out into the lake a bit, some of the prisoners were freaked out because they thought their dungeons were below the water, and might get flooded.
I found the prisons and dungeons pretty exciting to learn about.
